Youth soccer at the youngest ages concentrates primarily on fun. If a child is enjoying his soccer activities, he or she will keep coming back for years and constantly improve along the way. We strive to develop skills in an age appropriate manner that matches natural child development.
The intramural soccer program runs for grades K through 8. Intramural teams play in Bedford only, against other Bedford teams. The program represents a lighter commitment than travel soccer with practices/scrimmages on Saturday mornings only.
Saturdays “On the Pitch”
The intramural program meets once a week on Saturday mornings. Each Saturday session is divided into two parts. The first part resembles a practice with age appropriate drills and activities. The second portion is a scrimmage or game. While kindergartners and 1st graders have coach guided scrimmages, 2nd graders will play 30 minute games with youth referees.
Proformance Coaching Mentors
The Proformance mentor program works by enlisting the help of a professional coach to help the Bedford intramural coaches with their practices. Each week, a practice plan is be supplied in advance of the Saturday practice, and each week, right before the practice session, the Proformance mentor coach will review the practice plan with the intramural coaches so everyone is familiar with the plan and knows how best to execute it. Then during the practice sessions, the mentor coach rotates through the groups to help coaches with the practices.
Bedford Day Parade
Participants in fall intramural soccer will get the opportunity to march in the Bedford Day Parade with their team and age group. No intramural soccer sessions are held on Bedford Day.
Wednesday Night Under the Lights (Hopefully Coming Back Soon)
In the fall, second graders will be able to participate in a Wednesday evening tournament that takes place on Sabourin Field. They will play 2 or 3 refereed games on the turf under the lights.
